Google Workspace Updates

Here’s the latest from Google Workspace!!!

Generate Presentations from Prompts in Gemini Canvas
Gemini now lets you create full slide decks within the app using Canvas. Just supply a prompt or upload content, and it builds a themed presentation that you can export to Google Slides. This streamlines the gap between idea and output, meaning professionals, educators, and students alike can turn concepts into polished visuals in minutes.

Enhanced Admin Audit-Log Events for Deeper Insight
The audit logs in Admin Console have been improved with expanded schema, clearer event naming, and richer detail, enabling admins to dig deeper into Drive, Gmail, and security events. These enhancements are critical for investigations and risk assessments, giving organisations more confidence in understanding what’s happening behind the scenes.

Protection in Gmail via Cross-Origin Opener Policy (COOP)
Gmail now enforces a stricter Cross-Origin Opener Policy to guard against side-channel attacks like XS-Search effectively reducing attack surfaces by isolating how windows communicate across origins. This update strengthens Gmail’s security posture without needing user intervention.

Organisation Logo Displayed in Gemini App
Your organisation’s logo will now appear alongside user profiles in the Gemini app when using business or education accounts, a small change, but one that reinforces identity, trust, and brand consistency within the user experience.

Automated Governance Is the New Frontier!
Google’s recent updates, from richer logs to AI-driven slide generation, underscore a shift: visibility is only the first step. To truly control your Workspace, you need systems that act on those insights. Tools like Patronum complement these updates by automating enforcement, lifecycle management, and policy execution so your admins can spend less time chasing issues and more time strategizing.

With Google rolling out new capabilities at a faster pace, the challenge shifts from unlocking features to managing change, usage and hygiene across your Workspace. Patronum helps by automating lifecycle management, enforcing policies and giving admins control from day one so your team can focus on productivity, not firefighting.
